Literacy Development Practices
At SECT, we believe that literacy has the ability to change lives. We are aware that having good reading and writing abilities is essential for success in both school and in life. For this reason, we are dedicated to creating a thorough literacy programme that tackles the difficulties children encounter in developing their literacy skills.

The program is primarily focused on tackling issues such as lack of basic language proficiency and poor phonic skills among children. We recognize that these are significant barriers that can hinder a child's ability to learn and excel academically. By targeting these areas, we aim to provide children with the essential building blocks they need to become confident readers and communicators. Fluency in reading should eventually lead to reading comprehension which is the base to comprehension in any subject.

Teachers play a crucial role in fostering literacy skills in children. So to empower teachers with the knowledge and resources they need to effectively develop these skills in their students, we are developing comprehensive training programs. By investing in teacher training, we're ensuring that the benefits of our program reach as many children as possible.
Objectives of the program are to,
-
conduct a need analysis survey on foundation literacy competencies
-
design modules for foundation literacy development best practices
-
develop materials and resources for literacy development practices
-
train teachers to implement the modules

One of the key aspects of our program is our dedication to improving English and Kannada literacy among children. We understand the importance of proficiency in these languages for academic success and better opportunities in life. So SECT is currently developing two programs.
